Private supply of influenza and COVID-19 vaccines
Publicly funded vs. private vaccine options:
As part of the informed consent process, if offering a private vaccine, a pharmacist is to first provide information regarding the client’s eligibility for equivalent publicly funded vaccine options. This ensures clients have sufficient information to make an informed choice and helps prevent complaints related to a lack of awareness about publicly funded options.

During the fall respiratory immunization program:
- The province asks that pharmacies do not promote private supply before the official start date (e.g., no signage, social media, marketing campaigns).
- Where possible, only offer private supply after the start date to avoid confusion.
- Private supply should only be offered for those not eligible for the publicly funded vaccines.
- Clients choosing to purchase private supply must understand there is a public supply option available at no cost.
- Canadian residents from other provinces should be advised they may book for publicly funded vaccine by calling the Get Vaccinated call center 1-833-838-2323 to find a public health unit near them (appointments may not be available immediately). PharmaNet entry requirements
Private supply vaccinations are entered into PharmaNet and must not be documented in ImmsBC:
- Enter your CPBC ID in the Prescriber ID field in PharmaNet
- If product is both private and public supply, enter the PIN as per PharmaCare’s Publicly funded vaccines.
- If the product is only available for private purchase, continue to enter the product DIN in PharmaNet.
- Pharmacies can submit the drug administration fee ($11.41) using PIN 66128366 for non-publicly funded vaccines. This is done separately to the drug claim. 2025/2026 fall season - PINs for private vaccines: Four publicly funded influenza vaccines and two publicly funded COVID-19 vaccines are available for private purchase. Enter the PIN for the following products (Ref: PharmaCare’s Publicly funded vaccines):
