In exceptional cases, pharmacies may need to transfer vaccines to other clinics. Redistribution of any vaccine carries a higher risk of a cold chain incident occurring. Redistribute vaccine that has not been previously impacted by temperature excursion(s), since transporting vaccine that has already been impacted is considered very high risk. If impacted vaccines are redistributed, CCI documentation must travel along with the vaccine. See “Redistributing impacted vials: CCI documentation”.
Pharmacies redistributing vaccine must follow the Moderna Vaccine Redistribution Guidelines and Pfizer Vaccine Redistribution Guidelines.
See Vaccine storage and handling for more details.
