IMPORTANT: Patients are to remain in a supervised area for a 15-minute observation period after their injection.
If there are concerns about a possible allergy, they should be observed for 30 minutes.
- Provide/discuss with the patient the general Immunization Aftercare Sheets developed by ImmunizeBC.
- Provide the patient a record of immunization, as per PharmaCare policy manual section 8.10.
- ImmunizeBC vaccination cards can be ordered by emailing the completed form to printingservices@phsa.ca, with subject “ImmunizeBC cards”
- Patients can log in to Health Gateway with their BC Services Card to see immunization records online after 24 hours.
- Record any intervention or adverse effect into ImmsBC system.
Adverse events following immunization (AEFIs)
AEFIs are unexpected or unwanted medical occurrences that happen after someone has received a vaccine. Health authorities closely monitor AEFIs as part of vaccine safety monitoring programs to ensure the safety of vaccines and to detect any potential safety concerns.
